CIRCULAR TO THE INDUSTRY FOLLOWING THE 2007 ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS METRO AREAS ONLY (i.e.
those establishments situated within the Magisterial Districts of Chatsworth,
This circ=
ular
summarises the outcome of the Industry negotiations. The Parties to the
National Bargaining Council, have concluded a Collective Agreement in ter=
ms
of which the total labour cost increase for all “Metro” regio=
ns
amounts to 5,5% with effect from 1 September 2007. This is made up of a wage
increase, an increase in employer contribution to Provident Fund, an incr=
ease
in the Council levy and an additional 1 day Shop Steward’s paid
time-off for Trade Union activities. The Agree=
ment will
be submitted to the Minister of Labour with a request that it be extended=
to
employers and employees in the Industry, other than those who are party to
the Agreement, i.e. all Non-Parties. Details o=
f the negotiated
settlement in respect of the KwaZulu-Natal Metro Region (Part C of the
Council’s National Main Collective Agreement) are as follows:- <=

bsp; Sick Benefit Fund Employees’ and the
Employers’ contributions to the Sick Benefit remain unaltered at 1,=
5% and
1,75% respectively. 2.2 =
Provident
Fund Employer Contribution Rate:=
The Employer’s contribution =

to the Provident Fund increases from 7.0% to 7.5% Employee Contribution Rate: The Employee only contribution rate to the Providen=

Bargaining
Council Levy The dedu=
ction
per Employee and the equivalent amount payable by the Employer in respect=
of
the Bargaining Council Levy is increased from R1.30 to R1.50 per week. 2.4 <=
/span>HIV/AIDS The amou=
nt
payable in respect of employees earning up to R1 489.30 per week or R6 45=
3.65
per month payable by the Employer only, in respect of the SACTWU HIV/AIDS Project, remains
unchanged at 30 cents per week=

20 cents per week payable by the employer only in respect of the SACTWU Bursary Fund remains unchanged. |

Union Subscriptions <=

Trade Union subscription rate for its members remains unchanged at 1% of =
the
member’s basic wage rate with a new minimum of R5.00 per week and a=

maximum of R9.20 per week. The contribution rate towards its funeral sche=

remains at R1.20 per week with the total
minimum to R6.20 per week
(i.e. the R5.00 plus the R1.20) and the total
maximum to R10.40 per we=

(i.e. the R9.20 plus the R1.20). <=

5.1 HIV /=
AIDS &nbs=

The Code=

Good Practice on key aspects of HIV / AIDS and Employment as set out in

Employment Equity Act No 55 of 1998 (as amended from time to time)
shall be policy in the &nbs=
p;
industry. A sub-comm=
ittee
shall be established to word it in a manner that this policy is industry =
&nbs=
p;
specific. &nbs=
p;
